Privacy Policy

Effective 25 August 2026

Runway is a personal finance app made and run by Vladyslav Yaremenko, trading as Dotmy (“I”, “me”). This policy says what happens to information when you use the app and this website — what stays on your phone, the little that leaves it, and why.

The short version: everything you type into Runway stays on your device. Two things leave it — anonymous usage statistics, and a record of your purchase if you buy Premium. There is no account, no bank login, no advertising, and nothing is ever sold.

Who is responsible

The person responsible for how information is handled (the “data controller”, where that term applies) is Vladyslav Yaremenko, trading as Dotmy. Write to support@dotmy.app about anything in this policy.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter is stored in a local database on your phone or tablet: accounts and balances, debts, income and spending, the money movements you log, monthly check-ins and their history, goals, plans, simulations, and your settings. None of it is uploaded. I have no server that holds it and no way to read it.

If you back up your device with iCloud or Google, Runway’s data is part of that backup like any other app’s. That copy is between you and Apple or Google, under their terms.

The calculator on the front page of this website works the same way: the numbers you type are computed in your browser and are not sent anywhere.

What leaves your device

Two things, through two services. Both are named, so you can read their own policies too.

Usage statistics — Google Analytics for Firebase. So that I can see which parts of the app are used and where it fails, the app sends Google a small set of events. What travels with them: a random app-instance identifier created when the app is installed (it is not your name, your email or any account); the device model, operating system version, app version and language; an approximate country or region that Google derives from a masked IP address and then discards; which screens you open and which features you use; and a few coarse figures about how the app is being used — your runway rounded to whole months, whether it sits in the safe, moderate or danger zone, your currency code, and your income, spending and savings as broad ranges (for example “1,000–2,000”), never the amounts themselves.

Advertising identifiers are switched off in the app on both iOS and Android, there is no advertising SDK, and nothing is used to track you across other apps or websites.

Purchases — RevenueCat, with Apple and Google. If you buy Premium, the purchase itself is made with Apple or Google; I never see your card or payment details. To know what you own, the app uses RevenueCat, which creates an anonymous customer identifier stored on your device and receives the purchase receipt, the product and price, your subscription status, and the platform and app version. That is what lets Premium unlock, stay unlocked, and be restored on a new phone.

Nothing else. There is no crash-reporting service and no other third-party SDK that sends data. If I add one, this policy changes first.

What I never collect

To be plain about it:

  • your name, email address or phone number — unless you write to me, in which case I have what you sent
  • bank logins, account numbers or card details
  • your actual balances, income or spending — only the broad ranges described above
  • precise location, contacts, photos or files
  • advertising identifiers, or any profile of you for advertising

Reminders

If you allow notifications, Runway schedules a monthly check-in reminder on your device. It is created and shown locally; nothing about it is sent to a server. You can turn it off at any time in your phone’s notification settings for Runway.

This website

If you join the waitlist, I store your email address, the language of the page you signed up on, the referral or campaign code in the link you arrived from (if any), and the time you signed up. You confirm by clicking a link in an email, so nobody can add an address that isn’t theirs. Emails are sent through Resend, and the site runs on Cloudflare; both act only on my instructions.

To keep the form from being abused, a salted, one-way hash of your IP address is stored with the signup. It cannot be turned back into the address and is used only to limit repeated submissions.

The survey after signup is optional. What you answer is stored with your subscription and used to decide what to build and what to write.

The site sets no analytics cookies. The only thing it keeps in your browser is your light-or-dark theme choice, and that never leaves your browser.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops all email immediately; if you want the record deleted rather than marked, say so and it will be.

Legal bases

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or somewhere with similar rules, these are the legal grounds:

  • Purchases: performing the contract you make when you buy Premium.
  • Usage statistics: my legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used and keeping it working, kept minimal by the design above.
  • The waitlist and survey: your consent, which you withdraw by unsubscribing.
  • Reminders: your consent, which you withdraw in your phone’s settings.
  • The anti-abuse hash: my legitimate interest in keeping the site working.

How long

  • On your device: until you delete it. Settings → Delete all data erases everything; uninstalling the app removes it too (except from backups you keep yourself).
  • Usage statistics: Google keeps event data tied to an app instance for the project’s retention period — I use Google’s default setting, currently two months — after which only aggregate statistics remain, which identify no one. Reinstalling the app creates a new instance identifier with no link to the old one.
  • Purchase records: kept by RevenueCat and by Apple or Google for as long as needed to honour your purchase and to meet accounting and legal obligations.
  • The waitlist: until you unsubscribe or ask to be deleted.
  • Support emails: for as long as needed to help you, and deleted on request.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict what is held about you, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because your financial data never reaches me, most of these you do yourself, on your phone: delete it with Settings → Delete all data, and reset the usage statistics by reinstalling the app.

For anything else — a purchase record, your waitlist entry, an email thread — write to support@dotmy.app and I will handle it, or ask the service holding it to. I will ask only for what is needed to find the record.

Where data is processed

Google, RevenueCat, Cloudflare and Resend operate in the United States and elsewhere, so the little that leaves your device may be processed outside your country. Each transfers data under recognised safeguards — the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where they are certified, and standard contractual clauses otherwise.

The services named here

Each of these is bound by its own policy and by contract to protect what it receives at least as well as this policy describes. They are used for the purposes above and nothing else.

Children

Runway is not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the app or joined the waitlist, write to me and it will be removed.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date, and the app points you to it if the change matters. Using Runway after a change means the new version applies.
